As the automotive industry accelerates towards autonomous, connected, electrified and shared mobility, the integration of AI and ML technologies is essential for achieving added value for virtually all customer facing products and services.
At BMW, we are at the forefront of this innovation, but the journey is fraught with complex challenges that must be overcome. This presentation will explore the critical hurdles in finding, inventing and deploying AI and ML end-to-end applications within the entire BMW’s vehicle program.
We will briefly delve into the intricacies of big-data processing, model accuracy, and real-world testing, offering insights into how BMW is addressing these challenges to pave the way for the future of mobility.

Johann Prenninger has been leading the introduction of analytics and AI/ML at BMW AG in recent years. Since 2004, he has been responsible for the establishment of those technologies in production, development and aftersales at BMW in Munich.
Since 2019 he works in BMW’s Connected Company focusing on all aspects of smart natural language user interaction.
In his spare time, he is a lecturer at the Hagenberg University of Applied Sciences in Austria on the subjects of autonomous driving and automotive software engineering.
Johann Prenninger studied electrical engineering and received his doctorate with a focus on automation technology and robotics at the Vienna University of Technology.
