Driving automation is rapidly transforming the automotive industry, with safety and performance at the forefront of its development. Bert Böddeker deep dives into a comprehensive SOTIF case study conducted at CARIAD SE, Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary. He explores the challenges and solutions in finding the right level of effort to ensure rigorous safety for today’s state of the art L2/L2++ ADAS systems. Attendees will gain insights into the methodologies, tools, and practices used to address SOTIF requirements for L2++ ADAS systems.
At CARIAD SE, Dr. Bert Böddeker is responsible for the release process and legal and safety compliance of the Adaptive Cruise Assist 4, the SAE L2-function for the premium platforms of Audi and Porsche. He has entered the Volkswagen group through the Automated Intelligent Driving GmbH – later fused into Argo AI – where he was responsible for the architecture engineering and safety for the SAE L4 robo taxi development. At DENSO International Europe, he was leading the roll out of ISO26262 and the E/E architecture research involving various public research projects and standardization such as AUTOSAR. At his time at Berner&Mattner, Bert led several activities to utilize Bluetooth and other network technologies for automotive customers.
