As software-defined vehicles promise to make vehicles safer, the critical role of AI-powered perception and planning cannot be overstated. The session discusses the underlying methodologies and technologies for a modern AD/ADAS stack, highlighting the pivotal role of data and deep learning. Zenseact’s software stack, which is being release in the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90, will over time grow its capability for Drive, Cruise and Ride targeting to significantly decrease collision risks.
Erik Coelingh is VP Product at Zenseact. After obtaining his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands he joined Volvo Car Corporation in 2000. During that he had responsibility for Volvo's first application of Automatic Emergency Braking and led the advanced engineering activities for world-first technologies like Pedestrian Detection and Intersection Collision Avoidance. Additionally, he was adjunct professor Mechatronics at Chalmers University from working on collision avoidance research. In 2016 he joined Zenuity as Technology Advisor working with several OEM’s on advanced ADAS systems. Since 2020 he works at Zenseact and is responsible for developing a world-class AD/ADAS software product – that is optimized for safety and that will grow continuously in order to make vehicles safer and more capable with every over-the-air software update.
