Less Details

As software-defined vehicles promise to make vehicles safer, the critical role of AI-powered perception and planning cannot be overstated. The session discusses the underlying methodologies and technologies for a modern AD/ADAS stack, highlighting the pivotal role of data and deep learning. Zenseact’s software stack, which is being release in the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90, will over time grow its capability for Drive, Cruise and Ride targeting to significantly decrease collision risks.

  • Learn more about how Zenseact is using the foundational principles of AI and DL to develop robust perception and computer vision systems
  • Leverage comprehensive data collection from consumer vehicles and annotation methods to train perception models that can reliably navigate diverse environmental conditions
  • Get up to date on emerging trends to steer the future development of automated driving technology

Erik Coelingh

VP Product, Zenseact

Erik Coelingh is VP Product at Zenseact. After obtaining his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands he joined Volvo Car Corporation in 2000. During that he had responsibility for Volvo's first application of Automatic Emergency Braking and led the advanced engineering activities for world-first technologies like Pedestrian Detection and Intersection Collision Avoidance. Additionally, he was adjunct professor Mechatronics at Chalmers University from working on collision avoidance research. In 2016 he joined Zenuity as Technology Advisor working with several OEM’s on advanced ADAS systems. Since 2020 he works at Zenseact and is responsible for developing a world-class AD/ADAS software product – that is optimized for safety and that will grow continuously in order to make vehicles safer and more capable with every over-the-air software update.

Company

Zenseact

Zenseact is a software company part of the Volvo Cars Group. We develop AI-powered software for autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems. Our solution combines in-car software and cloud services to offer rigorous protection on the road. Our product offers three modes of operation: Drive, Cruise, and Ride. • Drive helps to avoid collisions by providing information, warnings, and automatic braking and steering interventions. Real-life safety performance is improved by leveraging unsupervised/supervised pilot assets. These features ensure 5-star NCAP performance. • Cruise controls the vehicle’s motion but is under your supervision. You take control when needed. Over-trust is addressed by using a driver monitor and hands-on detection. Gradually, the amount of driver interference will be reduced. • Ride takes complete, unsupervised control of the car, giving you the freedom to do something else behind the wheel. This mode is restricted to specific road segments, but the capability will continuously expand.
