Principal Engineer – Algorithm Development, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company

With ten years of experience in engineering, I am passionate about developing innovative and customer-centric solutions for the tire and automotive industry. As a principal engineer at Goodyear, I lead several projects in the algorithm development team and coordinate the go-to-market strategies and customer feedback processes. I am motivated by the mission of Goodyear to deliver safe, smart, and sustainable mobility solutions for the future.
In my current role, I have increased the maturity of the algorithms based on customer feedback and benchmarked and integrated new technologies into the algorithm development approach. I have also established a new invention mining process together with the patent department , resulting in multiple patent applications. I have leveraged my skills in SharePoint, PowerPoint, Kanban and Agile to manage projects and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, I have obtained the Agile Leader Certification from Six Sigma Global Institute, which has enhanced my ability to lead and empower my team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Less Details

This session showcases how to provide tire and road data into the vehicle systems and enable an improved driving experience with better comfort, control and efficiency. Through research, virtual simulation, and real-world testing, Goodyear has identified the potential of an integrated solution in improving vehicle performance and safety. This technology can provide enhanced vehicle responsiveness, more direct and linear steering, improved turn-in response, increased stability, reduced controller workload, and minimized intrusive interventions.

For instance, to reduce the risk of hydroplaning, detecting it early and offering recommendations for optimal speed is critical to enhance vehicle control. Moreover, when heightened hydroplaning severity is detected, equipped with tire intelligence data, the software layers of the vehicle can instruct the chassis actuators to apply corrective measures, stabilizing the vehicle.

In this session, you will learn more about:

  • Advancements in algorithms harnessing data from existing vehicle sensors and tire-based sensors
  • Applying insights from tire intelligence to address real-world practical scenarios/use cases for ADAS and AD
  • Technical hurdles that need to be addressed

Company

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company

Goodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies. It employs about 72,000 people and manufactures its products in 57 facilities in 23 countries around the world. Its two Innovation Centers in Akron, Ohio, and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, strive to develop state-of-the-art products and services that set the technology and performance standard for the industry. Goodyear recently launched SightLine - a suite of tire intelligence technologies that can help identify and address problems before they become visible. Goodyear SightLine is designed to help fleets minimize downtime and improve tire management with remote tire health monitoring. SightLine also offers tangible benefits to automotive OEMs by providing enhanced performance and safety features through predictive and real-time input to vehicle control systems.
