Peter Zegelaar received his master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). He began working at the Vehicle Research Laboratory and at the same university and received his Ph.D. for to research on research into modelling the dynamic properties of tyres during braking on rough road surfaces. After completing his doctorate, he worked for five years at Robert Bosch GmbH in Schwieberdingen (Germany) on feature development for anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control systems (ESC). He joined Ford R&A in Aachen (Germany) in 2003 and worked on the integration of active chassis control systems. In 2008 he started working on ADAS systems and was active in the field of collision avoidance: automated braking and steering to avoid collisions. Now he is working on highly automated driving and cooperative driving. Additionally, between 2015 and 2021 he was part-time professor “Smart Vehicle Technology” at Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands). He still teaches the lecture "Vehicle Control" at this institute.
