Matthias Strauß joined Continental in 2005 as Project Lead Advanced Engineering. Starting in the field of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, the first contact with AI based Computer Vision was made. The scope of his projects changed more and more in the direction of Automated Driving. Based on the experience gained by his team in the EU funded project HAVEit, the “Nevada License For Autonomous Cars” was granted to Continental in 2012. After several projects focusing on the highway use case, Matthias became technical lead engineer in Continental’s CUbE project in 2016. Since then he is fascinated by the urban use case of autonomous driving. He is always pushing the limits further in his current roles as Release Train Architect and Product Owner for the Companion Premium Urban Challenges vehicle, Continental’s test platform for new product ideas in the area of Robotaxi applications.
