Less Details

Driving automation is rapidly transforming the automotive industry, with safety and performance at the forefront of its development. Bert Böddeker deep dives into a comprehensive SOTIF case study conducted at CARIAD SE, Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary. He explores the challenges and solutions in finding the right level of effort to ensure rigorous safety for today’s state of the art L2/L2++ ADAS systems. Attendees will gain insights into the methodologies, tools, and practices used to address SOTIF requirements for L2++ ADAS systems.

  • There are only few obligatory requirements in the ISO21448 leaving much freedom for interpretation. On the other hand, it requires a clear and consistent scheme across all projects of the group to set the right level of rigor for each SOTIF-activity during the implementation phase of the standard.
  • Does the hazard analysis and risk assessment from ISO 26262 ideally fit to SOTIF? Here is an alternative proposal using first principles analysis.
  • Acceptance criteria and validation targets: How to get the right benchmark.
  • How to obtain the data from the test fleet that is really needed for a SOTIF release.
